I posted some new photos tonight. Highlights include some additional photos from our trip to Sedona, Michaela’s first “solid” food, first vegetable (carrots) and a few other things.

September Photos
Oct 14
New photos are up, including August 2008 where Michaela got her first teeth and learned to sit up. Also new are photos from Felicity’s 3rd birthday parties in both Tucson and Sedona (see earlier blog post). There are some more photos from our trip that were after the birthday party, so I’ll post those in the September set in a week or three. And we also have some photos from Kendra and Jeremy’s wedding, I’ll be posting those soon.
I finally got caught up on my photo posting. June and July have been great, lots of fun developments for Michaela, our anniversary, Father’s Day, the 4th of July, Randy’s Birthday…the list goes on. I also uploaded some photos from back in 1998 when I went to Geology Fieldcamp (see my previous post). Enjoy.
I’m a little behind on posting the May photos. Sorry about that. Last month was a fun one with Michaela (see Becky’s previous Post). One of my favorite new things was seeing her cute smile! Now she’s even more expressive and she recognizes her Mom and Dad and of course her Big Sister. Other highlights of the month included Felicity’s first hair cut (just to even things up), Uncle Kenny’s 25th Birthday where Michaela finally got to meet her Papa Ellis and Uncle Louie, Mother’s Day and learning to roll over.
Last weekend was a fun event on Saturday. The new Library by our house (Cortaro and Silverbell) had its grand opening. The Wheeler Taft Abbett Sr. (WTA) Pima County Library is build on a site that will eventually be part of a rather large Town of Marana park. It borders along the Santa Cruz river and the Architect did a fantastic job capitalizing on the great views of the surrounding mountains and the future views of the park. We know the girls are going to love going there for storytime and to check out books.
It was particularly special for me because my firm, NCS Consultants, was the geotechnical engineer on the project. It wasn’t the run of the mill project either. There were problem soils down to a depth of about 20-ft. We looked at several options to mitigate them, but it would have been too expensive to dig down to 20-ft. So we had them overexcavate 10-ft and used layers of what’s called geogrid in between the compacted soil layers. Even though most people will never appeciate what went in to making a safe and long-lasting building foundation, it gives me a great sense of accomplishment and pride to have helped put our new library on solid ground. I’ll probably post a description of the project and construction photos to our compan website sometime soon. Maybe I’ll post here when I do if anyone is interested in the engineering of the library.
This past weekend was a very busy one! Saturday was my niece Jackie’s graduation from Salpointe Catholic High School, my HS alma mater. It was very exciting to live vicariously through her and remember what it was like moving from HS to college. I think Jackie could have done without all of the ceremony and pomp and circumstance.
My brother Ted is Jackie’s godfather, so he flew in with his oldest son, Nick on Friday to attend her graduation. Nick is graduating from 8th grade in the coming days also! Ted is also Michaela’s godfather, so we were fortunate to be able to schedule her baptism for this weekend to take advantage of Ted being in town.
Michaela was baptized at our home Parrish, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton at the 9am mass. As I mentioned, Ted Post was the godfather and Becky’s eldest sister, Ann Polakowski was her godmother. Ann came in to Phoenix on Friday, and came down to Tucson on Saturday. It was her and Hayden’s first time meeting Michaela too.
I really enjoyed having the baptism during mass, and truly welcoming her into the church community. I was a little nervous lifting her up, but I didn’t drop her so everything worked out fine. But I think half of our family and probably the congregation was hearing “The Circle of Life” from the Lion King in their head when I did that.
Of course private baptism ceremonies are nice sometimes too, like what we did with Felicity. Afterwards we had a little party at our house of course. It was a really nice day and it so special to have most of our family there for the event, especially Michaela’s godparents! Thanks Kris and Erik for lending us your spouses!
Michele and Ken’s Wedding
Apr 24
Ken and Michele were married on Saturday April 12th. Becky used to work with Michele at GRB, the first law firm she worked at. Felicity was very honored to be the flower girl in the wedding, she absolutely loved her “wedding dress”. Grandma Post altered it so it fit better but so she can let it out a litle more in the shoulders when she gets bigger. She also loved her “Sfinkle” (that’s sprinkle to the rest of us) shoes! She did great with only a little help from Becky to get started down the aisle.
And she had fun with Murphy the ring bearer, a really nice and patient kid to put up with Felicity dragging him around! Let me tell you, Felicity has the Cinderella fantasy down to a T! She drug Murphy out on the dance floor as soon as the DJ started the music practically, and she wouldn’t let me out of dancing with her either. But I’m not complaining, it was really cute and an evening I’ll never forget!
I posted some new photos last night. The first set was of Michaela’s First baths (both before and after the cord came off). Felicity had a good time helping! The next set is of Easter 2008. We tried out the new stroller on Holy Saturday and walked down to the park for an Easter egg hunt put on by the Town of Marana. On Sunday we had a low key morning at home, Felicity hunted for eggs and wore her present from the EB all morning – a cheerleader dress up outfit. She says she wants to be a cheerleader when she grows up, but not like those crazy ones in Texas. The last set is a collection of photos from the month of March. Included in there were visits from the Phelans; Beth, Ted and Kendall; and Kenny to meet Michaela. Also in there are a few more photos of Michaela and Kona’s 4th birthday.
Welcome Michaela Kate!
Mar 18
Becky, Felicity and I are very excited to announce our special arrival, Michaela Kate Post! (pronounced Makayla). Click here or on the photo for more photos.
She was born on Thursday, March 13 at 7:39PM and weighed in at 8-lbs 2-oz, and was 19-in long. She is healthy and beautiful! Becky is doing well also. She looks more than a little bit like her big sister! Felicity was at the hospital when she was born and got to see her that night. She took to her new sister right away, and is just thrilled have her around. I think she would have held her all night if we let her. She loves holding her and trying to give her binky (pacifier) to her. She doesn’t seem too bothered by her crying either which is good.
We came home from the hospital Saturday night and are adjusting to the new routines with the help of Grandma Ellis who will be with us for the rest of the week. We’re bleary-eyed and exhausted most of the time but we are so thrilled and blessed to have her in our family.
Single Digits
Feb 28
Well, I am still pregnant! I am getting very anxious to have this baby make his/her arrival, but he/she just doesn’t seem to want to make it yet. Yesterday I reached a very big milestone . . . SINGLE DIGITS!! As of today I only have 8, yep that’s right 8 more days until my due date. Although at this rate I am sure I am still in double digits until the day the baby is actually born! Oh well, he/she has to come out sometime! I plan to get another picture of me and my very heavy, back hurting belly very soon (hopefully tomorrow). When I do I will be sure to post another blog.
Randy has also posted the rest of the pregnancy pictures that I had take by Michelle Molnar (or her blog). Look under the photos tab for them. They are not all of them, just our favorites.
More Preggie Pictures
Feb 14
Well Jennifer, you asked so here you go! Actually we were quite a bit behind in posting Becky’s pregnancy pictures. I updated the pictures in the Baby 2 – Ultrasound and Preggie Pics photo set, so go check them out. Just for kicks, I put the whole series of photos below so you can watch the bump grow. Also, about a month ago, I took some portraits of Becky, similar to what we did with Felicity. They turned out very cute. But about two weeks ago, one of our friends, Michele Molnar, came over and took some MUCH better portraits of Becky. She was working on building her portfolio. She gave us a DVD with all the photos on it, and as soon as Becky tells me which ones I can post, I’ll do that. In the meantime you can see them on Michele’s Blog.
