Timing contractions 2-5 am…WTF?!

So last night Becky was having some contractions. They seemed to be slightly more intense than the Braxton-Hicks (BH) contractions she had been having so we were pretty excited…although Becky didn’t want to have a leap baby! So before we went to bed I was timing them, and then at about 2 am, she started having more of them so I..ahem…timed those as well. But it was dark, and I was tired because I didn’t come to bed until 12am. So I tried to stay awake, but I really ended up dozing off the 10-min or so between contractions. In the end, the contractions stopped about 5 am and we went to sleep until Felicity woke us a little before 7. So when we got up this morning, Becky and I both had a pretty good laugh at the paper I was writing the contractions down on! LOL!

Video Friday – Felicity’s Favs

Felicity really likes watching YouTube videos with us. She likes cute animal ones and funny kid ones. Here is one of her favorites. I tried to embed two of them, but the second one I wasn’t able to so I’ll link there in stead – Felicity’s Favorite "Blood" Video (not really about blood). Happy Friday.

Single Digits

Well, I am still pregnant! I am getting very anxious to have this baby make his/her arrival, but he/she just doesn’t seem to want to make it yet. Yesterday I reached a very big milestone . . . SINGLE DIGITS!! As of today I only have 8, yep that’s right 8 more days until my due date. Although at this rate I am sure I am still in double digits until the day the baby is actually born! Oh well, he/she has to come out sometime! I plan to get another picture of me and my very heavy, back hurting belly very soon (hopefully tomorrow). When I do I will be sure to post another blog.

Preggie Portraits by Michele Molnar Randy has also posted the rest of the pregnancy pictures that I had take by Michelle Molnar (or her blog). Look under the photos tab for them. They are not all of them, just our favorites.

I’m too sexy…for my new glasses

IMG_5546  I envisioned that song playing in the background of this post, but when I told Becky about my idea, she just rolled her eyes!

I got my first pair of glasses. I need them for distance right now, driving (especially at night) and perhaps most importantly, watching U of A basketball games! Do you think they make me look more smarter?

Video Friday: Where do they come up with this stuff?

I saw this on the Ellen DeGeneres show.  Someone on her staff found the video and then Ellen created her on version.  Her version was pretty funny, but when I found the full clip on YouTube, I decided that the original of course is better.  This is so darn funny, I couldn’t stop laughing.  Who came up with this game?  Seriously!  I hope that you find it just as funny.  Have a good Friday!!!

More Preggie Pictures

Well Jennifer, you asked so here you go! Actually we were quite a bit behind in posting Becky’s pregnancy pictures. I updated the pictures in the Baby 2 – Ultrasound and Preggie Pics photo set, so go check them out. Just for kicks, I put the whole series of photos below so you can watch the bump grow. Also, about a month ago, I took some portraits of Becky, similar to what we did with Felicity. They turned out very cute. But about two weeks ago, one of our friends, Michele Molnar, came over and took some MUCH better portraits of Becky. She was working on building her portfolio. She gave us a DVD with all the photos on it, and as soon as Becky tells me which ones I can post, I’ll do that. In the meantime you can see them on Michele’s Blog.

Your job is "to love me"

This is my catch-up post for the last couple weeks of cute Felicity stuff.

IMG_5454 A couple weeks ago on some Friday or Saturday when I was around during her nap, we struggled with her a little to get her to go down, but after a while it was quiet in there, so we just let her be. When she woke up, Becky and I went in there to cuddle on her bed. Eventually I looked down and noticed that the pants she was wearing were not the same ones she had on when we put her down. As it turns out, she decided she needed to take off her pants and underwear and put on new ones (both were backwards). Non only that, but she picked out her frilly socks to wear also and put her new tennis shoes on (wrong feet of course). She did all this, and then eventually ended up back in bed and fell asleep for her nap!

Another cute/not-so-cute/devious thing she has started doing is that when I tell her she can’t do something, like jump on the bed, or get out of bed after lights out or something along those lines, she will very obviously tell me “go away Daddy”, even giving me the “talk to the hand” gesture. It was pretty clear to me that she just wanted me to go away so she could do what I was telling her she couldn’t do. I even asked her if that’s why she wanted me to go one time and she said yes! Becky says she doesn’t really do that with her, but she is certainly giving us a little attitude now.

In the past couple of weeks she has finally started showing an interest in her alphabet letters. She started paying attention to the letter of the day on Sesame Street, and she uses the little leap frog refrigerator letters now. She is only up to about 5 or so that she knows, but she’s doing very well so far and picking up new ones pretty quickly. Her favorite letter is W. She points them out in her books and on signs and stuff (we pass Walgreens and Wal-Mart almost anytime we go anywhere!). It’s pretty funny when we let her read books in her bed before lights out at night, she will find a W and call out “guys, come here” and then “close your eyes” and then point to the W and tell us to open them to see her W, she is so proud!

This past weekend, Becky was lying around on our bed with Felicity. She started pinching Felicity’s butt. Felicity told her to stop, saying “that’s not your job”. Becky asked her “what is my job?” to which Felicity responded “to love me.” I’m sure one of us must have said something like that to her at some point, but it was so spontaneous and cute!

IMG_5505 Finally, lately she has been really into Band-Aids whenever she gets the slightest bump, bruise or scrape. Most of the time its not worth fighting with her over it. But today I think she learned her lesson. Becky had to take of the two on her forehead and cheek and they both hurt quite a bit.

Video friday: Superbowl ads and two legged greyhound

I thought we would try something new. If all goes well, a regular feature on RnrPost.com.

It’s the last day before the weekend, you probably aren’t getting anything productive done whether you’re at home or at work. So why not check out a video (or several) to help the time go by. I thought people could use a little help getting over the last few hurdles of the week, Lord knows I always can.

In honor of the Superbowl, I thought I would take a look at my favorite commercial from this year. I wasn’t overly impressed this year, but some of the highlights were Richard Simmons nearly getting run over, Shaq as a jockey, the unibrow, and Charlie Brown finally coming up on top. But I think this one was probably my fav. Enjoy.

Remember this old school one? Nice outfit Michael! LOL

Here’s another one I hope you get a kick out of. I figure if I can channel just a little bit of this dog’s attitude, life would be a breeze. Have a great weekend.

Kona and her now hairless paws

DSC02218 Back when we got Kona one of her more endearing qualities was some cute little wiry hairs that stuck up between her toes and in other random places. Well, she’s been a little sick over the past couple months and now those hairs are gone! Let me back up a little.

About two months ago or so we took her to the vet because she was licking and biting her paws incessantly. In retrospect, we probably should have taken her in sooner. IMG_4446 Anyway, they were infected with both bacteria and yeast infections probably initiated from some kind of allergies that prompted her to lick them.

So they put her on some antihistamines 3 times a day, one for the yeast infection (twice a day) and something for the bacteria (3 times a day). It was fun trying to get her to take her medicine let me tell you! When Hoover had to get medicine for her Valley Fever we just put the capsule in ham. But Kona is more finicky. We tried emptying the capsules into various things like gravy and other things, but the anti-bacterial one smelled (and I’m guessing tasted) horrible. In the end, I just started shoving them down her throat. A little gross, but MUCH easier.

IMG_4751 So after a month of those treatments, she had lost about 7 or 8 pounds because she hardly ate. We think it was the anti-yeast one that affected her appetite. We had her back in to the vet. It wasn’t her regular vet, some other guy. We don’t think he scraped the sample from the right spot (bottom of her paws, between the pads) and he said the infections were gone so we stopped all but the antihistamine.

A couple weeks later, the paws still looked a little pink to me, so I asked Becky to take her back. Sure enough, last Friday she was in and her regular vet said she still has the bacterial infection so back on the pills three times a day, just not the nastiest one. Plus I have to spray her feet with some topical stuff twice a day for 7 days, once a day for 7 and once every other day for two weeks. But at least she had some time to get back to eating again and she’s put most of her weight back on. But now she has a new problem.

2159622838_edf15dbb1e_b We had kind of noticed it a few weeks ago, but it didn’t really register, but she’s been losing hair. Her paws have much less hair than they used to, including between her pads (which was fun to tickle when she was sleeping) and the aforementioned wiry ones between her toes. Her face has lost a little too, maybe some more wiry hairs elsewhere too. So the vet said it might have been related to that nasty anti-yeast pill she was on and perhaps it will clear itself up. Otherwise we will have to have a blood test done to check her thyroid. (You probably guessed, this pic isn’t Kona…yet :) )

Anyway, hopefully we’ll get her all straightened out. We’ll keep you updated if anything develops. The good news is that she’s been pretty much the same old Kona, just with less hair.
